Let’s get physical
Are we warming our behinds too much, too long? I think we are; or I am at least.
Sitting is the new smoking! Yes, that’s what it says online; it’s that bad – sitting too long!
It wasn’t about getting the feel of a Triumph brassiere, not with three guys on this trip, instead an experience that was tons more exciting.
Thanks to Triumph Petaling Jaya, the Brit motorbiking marque, four friends had the opportunity to test out some of their cool bikes, together.
And they rocked!
Kudos to the four individuals who tried outdoor rock climbing for the first time. Three colleagues and another, came together for the beginner’s session.
Adventurer through and through
It was an honour and a real pleasure to have met in person, the amazing Khoo Swee Chiow, this morning.
The man has surely earned himself bragging rights from all his feats and accomplishments, and this includes all the…
It is important to keep moving many people say. I guess it helps one from being stagnant. But it has more than just kept me going. Personally, this ‘keep moving mindset’ has helped me stay positive. It has sort of added sunshine to a day and has given me the...
Never know until you try
I took my elderly parents for a woodwork class once. The three of us had never built anything from wood using our bare hands. The closest we had ever come to ‘working with wood’ was - for my mum – cutting meat/veggies on a wooden chopping board; my...
The adventure spirit
We begin life with this spirit of adventure; learning and trying new things. We fall then get up and try again – no fear, no embarrassment, just a get-up-and-go attitude. Then somewhere along the way, trepidation sets in and we become fearful. Since leaving the media...
Colours for health
In order to attain good overall health, experts in the field recommend consuming foods of many different colours. According to Harvard Health, adding colour to your meals will help you live a longer, healthier life.
Good fruit gone bad
Who on Earth would like to receive anything that has gone ‘off’? Recently, there was a case of Golden Dragon mangoes, the best one could indulge in, in which a batch (of fruit) that was perfect on the outside, wasn’t quite so on the inside.
10 sen for your thoughts
Everyone has a right to an opinion. But it is not necessary that a particular opinion may be right. In this case, we are talking about foreign workers. Most times, they are shunned and scorned upon by the locals in most countries whose citizens who forget to ask who would then carry out 3D jobs, defined as dirty, dangerous and demeaning work.
That cheat-day must-have
Now here’s a tough cookie to say no to! Some 30 years ago, a friend gave Sandra a tin of biscuits. It was SO good that she had to ask for the recipe. Sandra, being Sandra – known for her homemade kaya, curry puffs, yam cake, seafood keropok, jams, mooncakes and Nyonya chang – is now also famous for these “Hup Toh Soh” cookies.
Mother Nature calls the shots
The sun’s been shining brightly in all it’s glory but super hot it’s been, affecting farmer’s produce and naturally, farmer’s income. For the quick-thinking ones who were “faced with lemons”, they made “juice” and survived the heatwave. Others were left with no choice but to face the “dry season”.
King of dragonfruits in town
They say that life is full of lessons but only for those who want to learn. The minute we are born, we never stop learning, right until our very last breath.
Rare encounters and golden moments
There’s a saying that if you look hard enough, you’ll be able to find joy in everything. But I didn’t have to look hard as these precious moments caught my eye by chance. And so it is, here at the farm I work at in Sepang, where every day, during the course of physically demanding duties, I get to experience small bouts of joy.
Farm friends and foes
From two legged to four legged, creepy crawlies and winged creatures, as well as cute furballs and the not-so-cute hairy-scary animals – there are all sorts of lifeforms living on our farm alongside us humans. Adorable as some may be, there are also those that are considered ‘pests’ that are harmful to crops.
There’s always something to do here at the farm.. and trust me, there’s no room for boredom😁
Workers quarters, grading and packing area, meeting and discussion space, storeroom for agricultural equipment, seeds and solutions – these are just some of other spaces a farmer needs to make room for apart from his agricultural plot/s.
A new crop to come
We can vouch that we have experience growing cucumber, bitter gourd, chilli, long beans, okra, brinjal and most of the local tuber veges, but like most, who enjoy developing further and growing their experiences, we thought of trying our hand at growing rock melon and who better to consult than Hanifa Mokhtar.
Working together as a family
As in any job or career, if ‘S 11’ is the only thing in focus, then one may be
